The Ten Commandments of Cold Calling: 3. Prepare perfectly
If it seems to you that so far in our series on cold calling we are only talking about preparation, you are absolutely right. Perfect preparation is the absolute foundation.
First, let’s remind ourselves again what cold calling is actually about: Pwith cold calling, the salesperson addresses potential customers who do not anticipate this in advance. Its aim is to establish contact, present a solution and usually arrange another meeting.
It is a discipline that requires not only strong nerves, but also a special set of abilities and skills. That is why we have prepared the “cold calling ten” for you, in which we specifically focus on the B2B segment. You can find it nicely put together on our blog .
In previous installments, we talked about how to prepare mentally and how to prepare a quality list of potential customers.
But good preparation also includes other steps:
- Get to know the product or service you offer perfectly. What makes your solution unique? What are your selling points?
- Know your future clients (and think about them individually). What exactly do they need? What problem can you help them with?
- Prepare a call script , i.e. a call scenario. As you create it, think: How to generate interest as quickly as possible? What might a potential client ask? How to respond to the most common objections?
- Think through the style and tone of communication , which is in line not only with your brand, but also with the expectations of your customers.
